Gustav Dentzel Vintage Carousel Bear

American, Philadelphia Style. Restored paint.

Dentzel first introduced the carousel bear around 1904. Initially, it didn't achieve the same popularity of other menagerie figures from that carving studio. Consequently, not many bears were ever carved. Today, collectors actively seek out the few surviving examples. Pages 80 and 81 of "The Carousel Animal" by Tobin Fraley are devoted to the Dentzel carousel bear.

Dimensions: 29" x 49"

Estimate: $30,000 - $40,000
